Therapy Programs
Myo for Minis
Age 4-5 years old
The Myo for Minis Program is specially designed for younger children who struggle with low facial muscle tone or mouth breathing. This age group is typically unable to participate in a comprehensive myofunctional therapy program due to lack of body awareness and inability to mimic more complex exercises related to chewing and swallowing.
Comprehensive Myo Program
Ages 6+
Orofacial myofunctional disorders in adults can cause teeth crowding, TMJ dysfunction, sleep disordered breathing, headaches/migraines and many other symptoms. Comprehensive treatment aims to improve tongue posture and swallowing dynamics to improve overall function.
Habit Elimination
Oral habits such as thumb sucking, mouth breathing and nail biting can have negative affects on facial growth and development. Eliminating these habits is an integral part of a personalized Myofunctional Therapy program.
Hello my name is Caitlyn!
I earned my degree in Dental Hygiene in 2016 from West Los Angeles College after almost a decade in the dental field as a dental assistant. My experience in holistic dentistry introduced me to root cause concepts that affect airway and craniofacial development in children such as nutrient deficiencies, soft food diets, orofacial muscle dysfunction and oral restrictions. These changes in growth can have profound effects on sleep, breathing and the TMJ into adulthood.
I began my myofunctional therapy training with Sarah Hornsby's MyoMentor course in 2019. My passion for continuing education allows me to give the highest level of care to my clients. Staying current with information is critical as the research and protocols are constantly evolving and growing.
I believe that Myofunctional therapy is one of the most underutilized treatment modalities in dentistry. My goal as a therapist is to bridge the gap between oral and systemic health with a focus on nasal breathing, lip seal, correct tongue posture and proper swallow patterns.
